The Super Mario Galaxy Movie Teaser Debuts, Unveiling New Characters Rosalina & Bowser Jr. Voice Cast
Nintendo alongside Illumination unveiled the first full-length trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie on Wednesday. It was showcased in a Nintendo-focused broadcast that centered on the forthcoming animated feature.
Following up on the 2023 hit film The Super Mario Bros. Movie, this latest chapter will send Mario to the far corners of the cosmos. In his journey, he meets a fresh princess character and a powerful new opponent in Bowser Jr., the son of the King of the Koopas.
A Space-Faring Quest Inspired by Classic Games
In the vein of the Wii console classics that act as its source material, Mario will leave behind the cozy environment of the Mushroom Kingdom to explore outer space. During his grand adventure, he will reunite with some familiar faces, including the Luma, a breakout star from the original cinematic release.
However, it seems Mario and his sibling Luigi will battle a different foe in the form of Bowser's angry little boy, who seemingly utilizes powers related to metal. Worth mentioning, the trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is not only concentrated on Galaxy-inspired imagery; it also contains hints to further iconic releases like Super Mario Odyssey and Bowser's Fury.
Celebrity Voice Actors Reprise Roles and Welcome Newcomers
The film will welcome back of the primary vocal talent, including Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.
Joining the cast for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie are Brie Larson, who will voice Rosalina, and Benny Safdie, set to play Bowser Jr. It was announced by the CEO of Illumination, Chris Meledandri.
A Significant Period for Mario
The new Mario movie is planned to debut close to the four-decade milestone of the first Super Mario Bros. title. Beyond the film, 2026 promises to be a important time for Mario and his companions.
The company has a trio of new releases already confirmed for the upcoming year, featuring Mario Tennis Fever, a Switch 2 edition of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and a new Yoshi platformer titled Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.
Launch Date Set
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is planned for launch on April 3, 2026.
